Cooking Class Lima

Today I did a cooking class with Best Bite Peru. Karen wasn't feeling too well, so I had a private class with my guide Leidy! First we went to a local market, where she pointed out many local fruits and vegetables. Then she gave me a shopping list and some money, and I bought the ingredients required. Then we took the Metropolitan Bus to Barranca for the class. First we sampled the many fruits we had bought, like prickly pear, tumbo and pacay. Then we made a Chilcano, a drink with Pisco and ginger ale, this one flavored with passion fruit juice. We sipped on that with some plantain chips. We then made the ceviche, along with causa liminada, a potato dish. Fantastic together, especially with a glass of sauvignon blanc! There was a chef and an assistant chef on hand, so I was very well taken care. Afterwards Leidy showed me around Barranca a little bit before heading back to the hotel in a cab. Lima Water Park

This evening we went to the "Magic Water Fountain" show in a lovely park in downtown Lima. There are many beautiful fountains, some of which are inter-active like the maze and the tunnel. Several times in the evening there is a show with music and lasers. Very impressive! Apparently in the summer it gets extremely crowded, not too busy at this time of year.
