Lima Day 3

Image
We woke a little earlier this morning, after a good sleep. The breakfast room was a little busier today.  It actually "misted" overnight (it never really rains in Lima) so the sidewalks are wet and a little slippery. This morning we decide to go to Huaca Pucllana, an adobe and clay archaeological site from 500 AD, which is about a 20 min walk from our hotel. Admission includes a mandatory tour which was very interesting. (we got in 1/2 price for over 60). The pyramid like structures were built to worship the sea gods, and people lived in the surrounding areas. The site was forgotten for many years, excavations started in the 80s and continue today. Afterwards we walked through another market, then had lunch at the same cevicheria as yesterday, Cevicheria Miramar. Today we shared a mixed seafood ceviche, even better than the day before. Afterwards we stopped at the Chocolate Museum for hot chocolate with cinnamon and cloves- delicious! It definitely feels cooler than...

Lima day 2

Another lazy morning, getting up at 9am. I didn't have as good a sleep (too full). After breakfast and a little work on my part, we head over to the Inca Market, about 1km from our hotel. This morning we weren't buying, just looking and getting an idea of prices. Lots of bright colors and interesting patterns on the knitwear. The market was just opening up, and not very busy. Afterwards we walked through Park Kennedy (quite a few cats) and down to a ceviche restaurant for lunch. We aren't too hungry so share Ceviche Classico. Back to the hotel to get changed before heading out to the Larco Museum. A beautiful private museum about 1/2 hour drive north. We had a cappuccino overlooking the lovely gardens before having our tour of the museum. 4 of us with a great guide. Gave us a great over-view of Peru's 5000 year history. The museum isn't too big, so doesn't over-whelm, and has beautiful pieces. The sun even came out for a bit while we were in the gardens...
